The Autonomous University of Barcelona

The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is one of the major public universities of Spain. It is located in Bellaterra, close to Barcelona. The University has over 41,000 students, almost 4,600 researchers and teaching staff, and it hosts more than 6,000 international students. The UAB is the second-ranked university in Spain according to the World University Ranking (THE WUR 2018). Regarding the UAB’s research activity, the following data stands out: 3,316 articles published in indexed journals (2015 Thompson Reuters WOK); 640 research agreements; 273 research national projects; 64 patents claimed (2015)- and new 8 companies hosted at UAB’s Research Park (including 3 spin-offs during 2015). Furthermore, since the beginning of EC Horizon 2020 programme the UAB is ranked at the 6th position among the overall entities of Spain in relation to EC funding, with +40M€ for +83 Horizon 2020 European Projects. Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP) will be the research institute in charge of deploying EUROSHIP project. The IGOP promotes research, training and social transfer in the field of government and public policy from an interdisciplinary approach and, above all, with the ability to combine academic excellence with an impact on social reality.

Margarita Leon, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain

Lecturer in Political Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. From 2010 to 2015 she was a ‘Ramón y Cajal’ researcher at the Institute of Government and Public Policies (IGOP) of this university. She has been professor of comparative public policy at the University of Kent (2004-2010) and Marie Curie researcher at the European University Institute in Florence (2000-2003). She holds a PhD in public policy from the London School of Economics and a Master’s degree in sociological research from the University of Essex. She has published articles in numerous international scientific journals. She is co-editor with Ana M. Guillén of The Spanish Welfare State in European Context (Ashgate, 2011) and editor of The Transformation of Care in European Societies (Palgrave, 2014). Two of her most recent publications are “Policy Change and Partisan Politics: Understanding Family Policy Differentiation in Two Similar Countries”in Social Politics: International Studies in Gender, State & Society, (2019) and “Tensions between quantity and quality in social investment agendas: working conditions of ECEC teaching staff in Italy and Spain” in Journal of European Social Policy(2019). Her main areas of research are comparative public policy and welfare state reform. She is co-president of the Spanish Social Policy Network (REPS) and member of the executive committee of the European Social Policy Network (ESPAnet). Ismael Blanco, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain

Senior Lecturer (Profesor Agregado) at the Department of Political Science and Public Law of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Government and Public Policies (IGOP) of the same university. Since 2019 he is also the Director of the above mentioned Institute. He holds the I3 certification of academic excellence by the ANECA (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation) of and the Advanced Research accreditation as Full Professor (Catedrático) by the Catalan AQU. Ismael Blanco has participated in more than twenty research projects, both national and international, four of them as Principal Investigator. He has been the Spanish representative for the research consortium Austerity Governance: An Eight-Case Comparative Study, funded by the Major Grants program of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC, UK) and he is the PI of the UAB team in the study B-MINCOME: Combining guaranteed minimum income and active social policies indeprived urban areas, funded by the Urban Innovative Actions program of the European Commission. Ismael has supervised 10 PhD theses in the last 10 years. Since 2000, he has authored more than 80 publications, the most remarkable of which are the co-editionof 2 monographic issues in indexed journals in Journal Citation Reports and the publication of articles in approximately 30 journals indexed in different databases (16 inSJR Scopus, 15 in JCR ISI Thompson).
